JV Ejercito hopeful Marcos admin will continue Duterte’s ‘Build, Build, Build’

Senator-elect Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito.

MANILA, Philippines — Senator-elect Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Wednesday said he is hopeful that presumptive President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will continue the current administration’s drive towards widespread infrastructure development.

“Sana ituloy ng ating magiging Pangulong Bongbong Marcos ang infrastructure development kasi tingin ko ito ang magsisilbing daan para magbigay ng trabaho at hanapbuhay sa bawat probinsya dahil maikakalat na natin ang development sa bawat probinsya,” he said in an interview after his official proclamation at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay.

Ejercito was referring to the Build, Build, Build program, President Rodrigo Duterte’s flagship infrastructure initiative.

According to the Department of Public Works and Highways, a total of 12 out of 119 infrastructure projects under the said flagship program have been completed so far.

Two major railway projects are expected to be completed in the last month of the Duterte administration, while 12 projects are scheduled for completion by the end of 2022.

For his part, Ejercito said he will continue to defend infrastructure programs that seek to bring development, jobs, and new opportunities to rural areas around the country.

“Ako ang nagdepensa nito noong panahon ni Pangulong Duterte, sa mga proyekto ng DOTr. Ipagpapatuloy natin ito. Gusto kong ipagpatuloy ito para magkaroon ng tunay na kaunlaran, lalo na sa probinsya, at trabaho at hanapbuhay,” he said.

The returning senator is expected to push for the creation of a comprehensive infrastructure development master plan in his Senate comeback.
