Adamson University suspends class, work to address ‘post election stress’

MANILA, Philippines — The Adamson University (AU) has declared a three-day suspension of work and classes in the university from May 13 to 16.

“To give our students the time to address post-election stress and take the time to reflect on their election experience, the Administration is declaring an academic post-election break,” said AU President Marcelo Manimtim in a statement on Thursday.

The AU president said that there will be no classes and work in the university’s offices during the said period, but all pre-schedules institutional activities within the said timeframe will continue.

The AU administration had openly endorsed the presidential bid of vice president Leni Robredo and her running mate Sen. Kiko Pangilinan.

Robredo’s ranked at a distant second in the recently-concluded polls after garnering 14.8 million votes, trailing behind former Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, who is now declared the presumptive president after getting 31.1 million votes, according to the Commission on Elections’s partial and unofficial count as of Thursday.

“The intensity of emotions that many of our students felt after the elections has left most of them unsettled and confounded,” Manimtim said. “What they feel, we feel as well.”

“Let us all use this time to restore our energy, reflect and heal from the present events.”
