Quezon logs 211 COVID-19 recoveries, 173 new cases
LUCENA CITY––At least 211 COVID-19 patients in Quezon recovered Thursday from the viral disease and stopped the steady spike of active cases in the province.
The Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) reported that Tayabas City topped the list with 52 healed persons.

It was the first time his month that the number of recovered patients surpassed the day’s tally of 173 new infections across the province.
As a result, the number of COVID-19 patients in Quezon was down to 1,673 as of Thursday, from 1,711 the previous day.
This January, Quezon had recorded 2,592 new patients, an alarming increase from December of 64 and 211 in November. The province had only nine active cases on Dec. 22, 2021.
The IPHO listed 916 recoveries, of which 636 were from Jan. 17 to 20.
Health authorities also recorded 16 deaths of COVID-19 patients this month.
Out of 41 municipalities in the province, the towns with active virus carriers jumped on Jan. 20 to 37 from six on Dec. 27.
Dr. Tiong Eng Roland Tan, IPHO officer-in-charge, said the province had no confirmed COVID-19 cases of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
However, the steady spike in COVID-19 cases in Quezon was starting to take its toll on health care workers (HCW) in the province.
Tan reported that from Jan. 4 to 16, at least 147 HCWs contracted COVID-19. INQ
