Dennis Uy Wants ABS-CBN to Pay P200M for His Reputation over Malampaya Deal Report

Businessman Dennis Uy wants ABS-CBN Network to pay him P200 million for damaging his reputation over Malampaya deal report.

Uy filed a cyber libel suit against ABS-CBN for allegedly publishing a defamatory information about him. Uy sought to pay ABS-CBN 200 million pesos for two pieces produced against him by the channel, according to his cyber libel case filed last year in Davao City.

The aforementioned report is concerning Chevron’s Malampanya dealings with Uy’s business, Udenna Corporation. Among Uy’s defendants were ABS-CBN President and Chief Editor Officer Carlo Katigbak, news executive Lynda Jumilla, and the reporter who wrote the piece, Anjo Bagaoisan.

According to the businessman, the publications harmed his reputation, which he had spent years building. He said that his reputation in the business community, both domestically and internationally, had been harmed, and that it would take him many years to recover.

“I suffered damages to my reputation to the public and my good standing in the business community here and abroad, which I built through many years of effort and expense. It will take years for me to recover from that reputational damage, ”said Uy.

Uy argued that the transaction was personal and that the government had no involvement. Uy was one of the most generous donors to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign in 2016, which is why he has been accused by netizens on both sides.
