MANILA, Philippines — The Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC) has not endorsed any aspirants yet for the 2022 elections despite having aspiring vice president Senate President Vicente Sotto III in the party, Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero said on Saturday.

Escudero, a senatorial aspirant

running under NPC, said that the party usually announces its endorsement by March or April before the upcoming polls.

“Wala pang ganu’ng pasya ang NPC. Nakausap ko lang sila mga one month ago, ‘yung ilang opisyal ng NPC,

wala pa silang pormal at opisyal na desisyon

kung sino ang susuportahan,” he said in an interview on DWIZ.

(The NPC has no decision on that yet. I talked to some NPC officials just a month ago, they do not have a formal and official decision yet on who to support.)

“Bagaman, hindi man maikakaila na miyembro ng partido si Senate President Sotto pero ang pag-anunsyo ng NPC, usually ginagawa ‘yan ng Marso o Abril,” the governor added.

(While we note that Senate President Sotto is a party member, NPC usually announces its endorsement by March or April.)

Based on the past years, Escudero said that NPC will decide to support particular candidates, form an ally with another party which they will follow the endorsement, or let its members decide on their own.
