What makes for a good hand cream?

The value of a good hand cream should not be overlooked. They are not just stocking stuffers, so perhaps this year, you can get a little more excited about receiving them for Christmas. The constant hand washing and cleaning we have been doing for close to two years has instilled in us the importance of our hands, and the significance of giving them the care they deserve.

On top of a good hand wash, I believe in investing in a good hand cream. It is bothersome when your hands are dry, itchy and a bit tough in certain spots. Our hands do so much work that we instantly feel it when something is off.

Oribe Nourishing Hand Crème

In my search, I’ve lined up the best hand creams.

The first is from Kahina Giving Beauty. It has a rich formula of fatty acid-rich argan oil and shea butter. Aloe vera is there to calm irritation. What’s special about it is the brand’s signature Essaouira scent, which is made of floral and citrus essential oils.

Kahina Giving Beauty

If you need something a bit more lightweight but also effective, the second one, Claus Porto’s cream, is silky and not sticky. It also carries an uplifting fragrance of red berries, poppies, roses, patchouli leaf and pepper—the Portuguese label’s Favorito scent.

Terry Baume De Rose

Beauty vlogger fave

The third one to consider is from Sephora.ph. A favorite among beauty vloggers is the Terry Baume De Rose Hand Cream. A signature of Terry, the line is a non-oily formula with repairing rose butter, soothing rosehip oil and hydrating rose flower essential wax. The delicate scent is not overpowering and even imparts a sense of luxury.

Fourth on my list is the Oribe Cote d’Azur Nourishing Hand Creme. This is for those who need something extra against dryness and damage. It is made with sweet almond, meadowfoam and starflower oil. Sodium hyaluronate deeply moisturizes to improve elasticity and keep hands soft and smooth. There’s also shea butter, and it’s rich in vitamin A, which hydrates and nourishes the skin. Its aloe leaf juice heals and repairs while restoring essential moisture. Glycerin and panthenol prevent dryness resulting in youthful-looking skin.

Susanne Kaufmann Hand Cream

My last pick is from Susanne Kaufmann. This no-nonsense blend features unique ingredients like broccoli seed. It contains alpha-linolenic acid and vitamins A and E. You also get mallow to protect your skin from environmental stressors; it moisturizes and soothes irritation. Witch hazel is added for its anti-inflammatory and astringent properties.
