NCR Alert Level Downgrade Possible As Cases Lower Says DOH

COVID-19 ALERT LEVEL DOWNGRADE

– The National Capital Region (NCR) is currently on alert level 3. However, it may soon be lowered to alert level 2 according to the Department of Health (DOH).

Due to the decline in coronavirus cases in Metro Manila, the COVID-19 alert level in the province may be lowered from 3 to 2. Furthermore, the easing of utilization rates in hospitals also plays a large factor in this decision.

According to DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, the possibility of downgrading the alert level is “very high”. “

We have low-risk utilization in our hospitals, both ICU (intensive care units) and the ward beds

“, she added.

However, she stressed that the Metro isn’t out of the woods just yet. She explained that 12 hospitals are still having high occupancy and utilization rates of their intensive care units.

Moreover, she noted that the average daily attack rate of COVID-19 in Metro Manila is still at 7.7 per 100,000 people. She said that once the average attack rate reaches 7, that would be the signal to lower the alert level to alert level 2.

Currently, Metro Manila has been placed under Alert Level 3 until October 31. With only 3 days till then, the government is now deliberating on whether to extend the alert level or lower it down to Alert Level 2.

Afterward, Vergeire emphasized that the public should remain vigilant. Additionally, she said that if everybody does their part, cases could lower until the end of 2021.

We need not  be complacent, everybody has to help so that cases will go down until the end of the year

The new Alert Level Scheme was created in hopes to isolate specific areas with COVID-19 outbreaks in major provinces. Along with the alert levels come the granular lockdowns that keep certain areas under quarantine.
