The confiscated machines were brought to the Greenleaf 88 Waste Disposal and Management Facility in Barangay Mitla, Porac, Pampanga, where they were destroyed and will no longer be used to make counterfeit cigarettes, according to the BOC. BOC also destroyed the supplies required for the process, in addition to the machinery.

“Also destroyed during the said activity were eight rolls of foil wrap, one roll of tipping paper, 15 rolls of white paper, 400 hundred rolls of plastic wrap, ten rolls of Philip Morris Philippines Manufacturing Inc. tape, and seven rolls of Mighty tape,” said the BOC.

BOC-Port of Aparri Seizure Identification Order No. 004-2020 issued by District Collector Claveria on September 2, 2021 for violation of Sections 118 (g), 224, and 1113 of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act relating to Articles IV and V of the Amended Rules and Regulations Governing the Exportation and Importation of Leaf Tobacco and Tobacco Products Series of 2005.

Under the direction of BOC Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero, the BOC-Port of Aparri has committed to continue to safeguard the country’s borders against smuggling and other illegal trade. They ordered that the search for smugglers and their unlawful goods be intensified.
