WATCH: ‘The Batman’ trailer shows Robert Pattinson’s violent take on DC superhero

“The Batman” has dropped its official main trailer, giving fans a first look at a darker and more violent version of the Caped Crusader.

The main trailer features Robert Pattinson’s Batman in his vengeful war against crime in Gotham City, a seen on Warner Bros. Pictures’ YouTube channel today, Oct. 17. Pattinson can be seen attacking enemies with unhinged brutality while ending up seemingly unharmed from his battles.

Instead of taking the popular line “I’m Batman,” Pattinson uses a different route in introducing his version of the superhero by declaring “I am vengeance.”

The trailer gives glimpses of Batman’s relationship with Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz), and his face-off with criminal mastermind Penguin (Colin Farrell.)

Riddler will also be making an appearance in the film but while it has earlier been reported that

Paul Dano

will be starring as the supervillain, his face was not revealed in the video.

“The Batman” is directed by Matt Reeves, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig.

The film was originally supposed to hit theaters in June 2021 but production was paused in September last year, after Pattinson

tested positive for COVID-19

. It is now set to be released on March 4, 2022.
