PH logs around 7,000 COVID-19 infections in 4th straight day

MANILA, Philippines — The country has reported 7,772 COVID-19 cases on Saturday to bring the caseload to 2,713,509, the Department of Health (DOH) reported.

Of the total cases, 85,048 or 3.1 percent are “active cases,” but most of them–88 percent–have mild or no symptoms.

This is the fourth straight day when the COVID-19 cases are at 7,000 range. There were 7,181 cases on October 13; 7,835 cases on Oct. 14; and 7,625 on October 15.

The total number of recoveries is now at 2,587,881 or 95.4 percent of all cases after 1,634 survivors were reported.

There are 156 deaths to bring the total number of deaths to 40,580.

DOH noted that 55 duplicates were removed from the total case count including 41 are recoveries.

“Moreover, 81 cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation,” the DOH added.

Meanwhile, the COVID-19 global case count is now at 240.2 million including 4.89 million deaths as of posting, according to the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 case tracker.
