Noli de Castro withdraws senatorial bid



Broadcaster Noli de Castro filed his COC as senator on Friday.

MANILA, Philippines — Veteran Journalist and former Vice President Noli de Castro has withdrawn his senatorial bid, he announced on Wednesday.

“Isinumite ko and aking kandidatura sa Comelec (Commission on Elections) noong Biyernes. Ngunit nagkaroon ng pagbabago sa aking plano,” De Castro said in a statement .

(I submitted my candidacy to the Comelec on Friday. But there are now change in my plans.)

“Nais kong iparating sa lahat ng aking mga kaibigan at supporters na naghahanda sanang tumulong sa akin, na nagpasiya akong hindi na ituloy ang aking kandidatura,” the radio host added.

(I want to inform all of my friends and supporters who was meant to help me, that I decided not to continue with my candidacy.)

De Castro filed his candidacy under the Aksyon Demokratiko, led by presidential aspirant Manila mayor Isko Moreno.

The radio host

took his oath as a member of the party

a day before

filing his certificate of candidacy

last Friday.

INQUIRER.net reached the Comelec for confirmation, but it is yet to receive a response as of posting.
