At least 9 dead due to Severe Tropical Storm Maring — NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines — At least nine people died from the onslaught of Severe Tropical Storm Maring (Kompasu), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday.

The recorded fatalities were still being validated by the disaster agency.

Three people were killed from a landslide in La Trinidad, Benguet, while another was killed in Itogon of the same province, the NDRRMC said.

One drowned in Claveria, Cagayan, while four were killed from flash floods in Narra, Palawan.

Two people were reported injured in Benguet, while 11 were reported missing in landslide and flash flood incidents in Benguet, Ilocos Norte, and Palawan.

Northern Luzon was battered with torrential rains from Maring, which was set to leave the Philippine area of responsibility.

As of 11 a.m., the storm was spotted 315 kilometers of Calayan, Cagayan.
