MANILA, Philippines — Over 200,000 individuals have so far joined the raffle of the Department of Health (DOH) for those vaccinated against COVID-19, where a total of P3 million in cash prizes are up for grabs.

“Tayo po ay naglaunch nito lang linggong ito at ngayon dalawang daang libo na po ang sumali dito sa ating raffle para sa mga bakunado. Our target ay sana makarating tayo ng kahit isang milyon na sumali dito,” Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said at the Laging Handa public briefing.

According to a statement from DOH, the SMS-based “Bakunado Panalo” raffle was sponsored by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation in collaboration with the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation and is open to vaccinated Filipinos.

The DOH said the initiative is a way to incentivize vaccination, increase willingness to be vaccinated, and to thank Filipinos for getting themselves inoculated.

“More raffle entries are given to fully vaccinated individuals, and senior citizens receive double the amount of entries. This is to ensure that people return for their second dose and that the most vulnerable sector—the senior citizens— are vaccinated and protected,” the health department said.

The raffle is powered by Zed and major telecom companies and will run from October to December, according to DOH.

Based on a Facebook post of the health agency on October 4, a total of 50 winners in October and another 50 in November will win a P5,000 cash prize each.

The grand draw will be conducted in December where one participant will win P1 million as grand prize, another will get P500,000 as second prize, and 10 winners will get P100,000.
