PDEA Arrest Claimant Getting His Parcel with Alleged Ecstasy in Post Office in Manila

Personnel of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) arrested a claimant while he was getting his parcel containing ecstasy in Center Post Office in Manila.

The arrest was made with the assistance of the Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Port of NAIA. According to the BOC report, when the arrest occurred, a “mail parcel” containing illegal substances was allegedly scheduled to be claimed.

According to the BOC, after undergoing x-ray scanning, the parcel was found to contain suspicious items and was submitted to a complete physical examination. The parcel in question was sent to a Henry James Chua from the Netherlands.

A search of the parcel uncovered approximately 100 ecstasy pills worth approximately P170,000. The confiscated illegal narcotics, as well as the serving claimant, are currently being investigated by the PDEA.

The authorities are preparing a complaint about a breach of RA 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, in relation to Section 1401 of RA 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA). In the meantime, three persons were arrested in Paranaque City after being captured in a buy-bust with the purported party drug.

The purchase bust operation was launched in Quirino Avenue, Barangay San Dionisio, Paranaque City after the PDEA received information that the suspects were involved in the selling of party drugs. The three were apprehended as soon as the transaction turned positive.

The suspects were found with 105 pieces of MDMA or Ecstasy valued at P178,500. They were also able to obtain buy-bust money and telephones from them.
