The woman was placed at the town’s isolation facility after she tested positive for COVID-19, said Kevin Avila, a staff of the municipal disaster risk reduction management office.

“Both the mother and the baby are doing fine. They were joined by her husband inside the isolation facility,” he said.

According to Avila, the woman underwent a swab test on June 15 in a hospital as part of the requirements.

The following day, June 16, the woman tested positive for the coronavirus and was immediately brought to the town’s isolation facility.

At around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Avila said the woman gave birth to a baby boy, her third child.

“She had a normal delivery. A nurse from our rural health unit was later called to cut the umbilical cord of the baby,” he said.

Tolosa has 329 COVID-19 cases where 48 were active.
