Vaccination drive to continue in Tacloban with arrival of fresh supplies
TACLOBAN CITY — The vaccination campaign in this city will resume next week with the arrival of fresh vaccine supplies.
Dr. Gloria Fabrigas, the city’s health officer, said the city has received 5,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the Department of Health (DOH) on June 17, on top of its existing 1,175 doses of the same vaccine.
“We will resume our vaccination Monday next week [June 21] and this will continue [depending on the availability of the vaccines],” she said in a phone interview.

The City Health Office (CHO) earlier suspended the vaccination rollout due to its increasing number of COVID-19.
At least four of doctors who were part of the vaccinating teams also tested positive for the dreaded virus.
On June 13 alone, the city logged 110 new cases for COVID-19.
Tacloban currently has 3,484 COVID-19 cases. Of the number, 596 are considered active and with 80 deaths.
The CHO so far vaccinated 22,896 individuals. At least 7,653 have already received their second doses.
In Calbayog City, Samar, the city government has imposed a ban on liquor and selling due to its increasing COVID-19 cases.
The city has also imposed a 24-hour curfew for those 15 years and below and an eight-hour curfew or from 1 p.m. to 4 a.m. for those 16 years old and above.
Exempted were police and soldiers, security guards, street sweepers, and members of the COVID-19 task force, among others.
