PH logs 8,748 new Covid-19 cases, 4,143 recoveries

THE Philippines has logged 8,748 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, the Department of Health (DoH) said.

This raises the total active caseload to 73,908, or 7.1 percent of the 1.037 million individuals infected by the virus, the DoH said.

Of the active cases, 97 percent are mild, moderate or asymptomatic.

Meanwhile, 4,143 individuals were reported on Friday to have recovered from the disease, raising their number to 946, 318 or 91.2 percent of the 1.037 million infected.

The positivity rate remained at 17.0 percent, or 9,184 of the 54,028 samples tested were found positive for the virus.

The death toll is up at 17, 234, including 89 new fatalities.

Occupancy rate in the intensive care units (ICUs) in Metro Manila remained at 71 percent while isolation and ward beds were at 51 percent and 62 percent capacity respectively.
