Gierran clarifies: PhilHealth number not required in COVID-19 vaccination

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) president and chief executive officer Dante Gierran on Wednesday clarified that PhilHealth numbers are not required for those getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

The PhilHealth number is just one of the “unique identifiers” that a person can present prior to vaccination, he said.

“‘Yung PIN number ng PhilHealth is just one of those requirements pero it’s not everything,” he said in a Laging Handa public briefing.

He said prospective vaccinees can present their professional licenses, driver’s licenses, passports, and other valid government-issued IDs.

They can also present barangay certificates and birth certificates that could verify the identity of the vaccinee.

“Sa parte ng babakunahan, dapat ay sigurado na siya yung babakunahan,” he said.

Gierran made the clarification following his statement that a PhilHealth number is required before getting inoculated.
