Filipina & American Boyfriend Reunite After 48 Years w/ Help of Social Media
LOVER’S REUNION – A Filipina and her American boyfriend have been reunited after 48 years, thanks to the help of social media.
Recently, Yolly Santiago-Sullenger, a Facebook user shared her love story with an American serviceman she met in 1972 but had to part ways with after just one year due to his job transfer.
Yolly shared a photo from her first meeting with Joe Sullinger, who was stationed in the Philippines at that time. However, in 1973, their relationship had to end when Joe was assigned to Japan.
From then on, Yolly had no news about what happened to the American serviceman who had captured her heart, as there was no way to communicate back then without modern technology.
“Year 1972 yung lumang picture at 17years old palang ako Nyan tapos 21 years old naman si Joe. Na assigned sya sa Japan noong 1973 at doon ay nawalan kami ng contact sa isa’t isa, Wala pa nman cellphone noon,” she said.
But thanks to social media, Yolly was able to successfully track down Joe in 2020, and they quickly decided to meet up and get married.
“After 48 years, nagkaroon muli kami ng contact sa pamamagitan ng Facebook, Nagkita kami, naging engaged at nagpakasal,” she added.
Yolly and Joe are now living together in Missouri, United States, after reconnecting against all odds nearly five decades after they first fell in love as young adults.
Many praised the couple for taking a chance on rekindling their young romance after so much time had passed. Others admired their persistence in seeking each other out after losing touch through no fault of their own decades ago.
