Beloved “Security-Cat” Mingming Crossed Over Rainbow Bridge

Animal lovers mourn the announcement of the passing of the beloved “security-cat,” Mingming, in a building in Mandaluyong City. Mingming, who was once a stray cat, had gained popularity among the residents and staff of the building.

According to a Facebook fan page dedicated to Mingming, the cat had been suffering from gingivitis, which caused a loss of appetite. Despite being taken to the veterinarian and receiving treatment, Mingming’s condition did not improve, and eventually, the cat peacefully crossed the rainbow bridge.

Mingming’s story was featured on the Kapuso show “Dapat Alam Mo” last January 2023. The building management had adopted the wandering cat in 2021 and took her in as a member of the security team.

As Katrina Son shared, Mingming would immediately be alert whenever someone entered the building.

“Kusa na lang siya umaakyat sa aming lamesa. Tapos parang gusto niya rin mag-inspeksyon ng mga pumapasok na employee. Mabait po si Mingming sa mga customer at employee,” said Jerome Arranchado, a security guard in the building.

Despite the sometimes stressful nature of their work as security guards, Mingming brought a sense of positivity. Arranchado mentioned, “Si Mingming po kapag nasa tabi po namin, nawawala po ‘yung pagod namin parang hindi po kami nahihirapan. Ginaganahan po kami magtrabaho. Parang kapatid na rin namin po, pamilya na rin po.”
