800 cops ready to assist in search and rescue ops for ‘Mawar’ — NCRPO

MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Friday said it will tap over 800 police officers to assist in the search and rescue operations as Super Typhoon Mawar approaches.

NCRPO regional director Police Major General Edgar Alan Okubo said they will initially field 710 officers with background and experience in search and rescue, while another 100 personnel are on standby and will be promptly deployed should the need arise.

“Our countrymen could count on the police who are prepared to respond and help in times of need,” Okubo said in a statement.
