‘Unravel’: Not the usual love story

Mavx Productions Inc’s new film “Unravel” is not your usual love story.

It aims to make people think.

It wants to raise awareness concerning mental health.

“Unravel” follows the story of Lucy, a Filipina executive suffering from clinical depression.

She is successful in her field yet she feels hopeless, helpless, worthless.

Deeming it too much to bear, Lucy flies to Switzerland to undergo voluntary assisted death.

Things take a huge turn when she meets Noah, a fellow Filipino only too eager to show her the beauty given to life and living.

Will he succeed in changing Lucy’s mind?

According to Gerald, the complicated story of the film’s main characters made the whole thing interesting for him.

“Kakaiba e,” he said. “Hindi typical. And I like that.”

He added, “Gusto ko sa pelikula yung may aspetong pag-iisipin ang audiences and as an actor, I’m so proud to be part of this film.”

“Actually, I could relate dun sa character ko,” said Kylie. “Depression is real. Actually, I was diagnosed with postpartum depression and anxiety pagkatapos kong manganak sa pangalawa kong anak. So I understand so much, ‘yung pinagdadaanan nila.”

“Ako personally, natutunan ko do’n sa pelikula, whenever you feel na you’re in a place na medyo dark, do’n ka dapat mag-speak up lalo. Humingi ka ng tulong sa experts. That’s the message.”

Note voluntary assisted death is legally condoned in other countries, particularly Switzerland, as long as the person who wishes to die is of sound mind and is able to end their life on their own.
