Japanese National Arrested in Manila for Forgery of Marriage

Police authorities arrested a Japanese national allegedly wanted for forgery of marriage for Pinay women in Manila.

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) would deport a Japanese national who is wanted in their country as a result of illegal recruitment and marriage forgeries among Filipinos. This Friday, the Japanese suspect was apprehended in Manila.

Amano Mototaka, 50, was recognized as the Japanese fugitive by BIR Commissioner Norman Tansingco. Tansingco revealed that Mototaka is being held in detention while his deportation paperwork is being processed.

“We issued a mission order for his arrest after we received information from Japanese authorities that he is a wanted criminal, set to stand trial in Japan for his alleged crimes,” the BI chief said in a statement.

According to the BI report, Mototaka was found by members of the agency’s fugitive search unit (FSU) near Arellano Avenue in Sta. Ana from Manila. According to Tansingco, Mototaka fled to Japan when a Nagoya court issued an arrest order on September 30, 2022, in the matter of fabricating paperwork for the marriage of Filipinas seeking long-term resident permits in Japan.

Mototaka is also charged with illegal recruitment for allegedly hiring Filipinas to work in his illicit entertainment club. He is now being held at the BI detention facility in Taguig City’s Camp Bagong Diwa undergoing deportation proceedings.
