PAGASA Says Amihan & Shear Line To Bring Rains Over Parts of PH, 1 Tropical Cyclone Expected this Month

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that amihan and shear line will bring rains over Luzon and the Visayas.

On Wednesday (February 1, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and shear line will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon or amihan and shear line will bring rain over Luzon and the Visayas.

The shear line will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas and Caraga.

The northeast monsoon will bring similar weather condition over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, and Bicol Region.

Amihan will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with light rains over the rest of Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro as well as Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon and Visayas.

The localized thunderstorms and shear line will bring the same weather condition over the rest of Mindanao.

The weather agency has also warned the public of possible floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the northern and eastern sections of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao as well as the remaining parts of the country will be moderate to rough, according to the weather bureau.

Pagasa weather forecaster Patrick Del Mundo said that one tropical cyclone is expected this month of February.

“Para sa buwan ng Pebrero, possible po na magkaroon tayo ng hanggang isang bagyo, at based na rin sa climatological track, halos walang tumatama o walang nagla-landfall sa ating kalupaan tuwing buwan ng Pebrero. Although mayroon pa rin nagbubuo ng bagyo, nasa loob lamang ito ng Philippine area of responsibility at usually nag rerecurve palabas,” Del Mundo said.
