Janella Salvador, Jane De Leon Open To Possibility of Doing GL Series
Janella Salvador and Jane de Leon’s “tandem” has its own fandom
Kapamilya actresses Janella Salvador and Jane de Leon said that they are open to the possibility of doing a GL or girl love series together.
Jane is Darna and Janella is Valentina in the Kapamilya series which is based on Mars Ravelos Pinay superhero. Although their characters are enemies, viewers somehow see a different “kilig” in their scenes.
Because of this, fans of the series are hoping that they would do a GL series in the future. In a recent media conference for the series finale, the two Kapamilya actresses were asked about this possibility.
Jane de Leon shared that it is overwhelming that they receive support from the LGBTQ+ community. “Doon sa mga fans, sobrang ‘yun nga, lagi naming sinasabi na talagang unexpected na sumabog ‘yung Darlentina and JaneNella, especially sa panahon ngayon. Hindi naman natin inaakala na mangyayari,” she said.
The Darna lead actress also showed appreciation for the love that the community has given to her and to Janella Salvador. For the latter, there is no issue if she and Jane will be given a GL project.
Janella said that they are thankful to the LGBTQ+ community and it is an honor for them to receive support from them and this warms their heart. When asked about a possible GL series, Janella said, “Of course, why not?”
Jane is also okay with this but she said, “Pero sana maganda talaga ‘yung story. Kasi it’s all about the craft din naman, ‘di ba kasi artist din kami. So challenge din ‘yun sa amin, if ever.”
Janella added as there is no beautiful representation yet when it comes to this aspect, she said that she is willing to do it wholeheartedly. She further explained that lesbians perhaps just want to be represented well in order for them to be treated in a different way because of their preferences.
“It’s a new thing for us, for me and Jea. Kasi nasanay ang mga tao na ang kasama lagi is guy. Maybe ‘yung sa amin, it’s not just about GL, but it’s about friendship and women empowerment,” Jane added.
