Herlene Budol Reveals She’s Suffering From Alopecia

Herlene Budol finished first runner-up in the Binibining Pilipinas 2022 with seven major awards. She was named to represent the Philippines at Miss Planet International 2022 shortly after.
The 23-year-old Kapuso star traveled to Kampala, Uganda, last month to compete in the Miss Planet International 2022 beauty pageant, which was scheduled for November 19. She and her team decided to withdraw from the competition due to “uncertainties by organizers” a few days after she arrived.
According to reports, the delegates’ team had to make their own hotel reservations in Uganda and were not given food or accommodations during their trip. In a vlog posted by Herlene Budol’s talent manager Wilbert Tolentino, the Pinay beauty queen up could be seen sobbing as she begged the pageant’s administrators to let them go home.
The MPI’s organizers said in a statement that the beauty competition has been postponed and will now take place in Cambodia next year.

Herlene Budol disclosed that she had alopecia during her stint in Binibining Pilipinas 2022. The beauty queen displayed her bald spot in an episode of “Updated with Nelson Canlas.”
The Kapuso actress-host claims that this worsened after the death of her grandmother and during her Miss Planet International 2022 journey to Uganda.
“Nagka-alopecia po akong malaki,” she said. “Masaya naman ako noon sa Binibini pero s’yempre ‘yung pressure na wala kang kaalam-alam, sobrang bobo mo do’n sa isang bagay.”
“Malala talaga noon. Mahigit pa sa triple ‘yung effort na binigay ko po noon talaga,” she added.
“Kasi first time ko mag-seryoso sa gano’n.”
