Earthquake Samar: 4.6 Magnitude Quake Rocks Talalora Early Today

EARTHQUAKE SAMAR – A 4.6 magnitude quake was recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in Talalora today.

Recently, several quakes with magnitudes that are 4.0 and above have jolted different areas in the Philippines. Phivolcs monitors such happenings and releases bulletins containing details about it.

Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about Earthquake Today December 2, 2022 in Samar

EARTHQUAKE TODAY DECEMBER 2, 2022 – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.6 magnitude earthquake in Samar today.

Most of the time, quakes hit with no prior signs. Recently, several places in and out of the Philippines were shaken by quakes of different magnitudes.

One of the strong quakes recorded by Phivolcs was the 7.1 magnitude quake in Davao Oriental. There were expected aftershocks due to the said quake and a tsunami advisory was released.

Previously, Phivolcs also recorded a quake in a part of Zambales. It had a magnitude of 6.1. Strong shaking was felt leaving people fearing about the so-called “Big One“. But the agency advised the people to wait for factual information and not to panic.

Recently, a quake hit a part of Samar, December 2, 2022. Talalora was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6.

According to Phivolcs, the earthquake today December 2, 2022 that hit a part of 11.57°North, 124.84°East – 005 km North 10° East of Talalora with a depth of origin of 137 kilometers.

Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. The following instrumental intensities were recorded:

  • Intensity IV

    • San Roque, Northern Samar
  • Intensity I

    • Quinapondan, Eastern Samar
    • Javier, Leyte
