Woman Wearing PNP Uniform Arrested and Discovered Wanted for Kidnapping

Authorities arrested a woman for wearing Philippine National Police (PNP) uniform and was discovered to be wanted for kidnapping.

A woman was stopped by PNP Batangas after being found wearing a uniform without authorization. It was determined that the 36-year-old lady was wanted in connection with a kidnapping.

Vanessa Teope Mago, a native of Naga City in Bicol, was named as the suspect. Mago is currently accused of breaking the Revised Penal Code’s Articles 117 (Usurpation of Authority) and 179 (Illegal Use of Uniforms or Insignia).

The police halted Mago when she was riding a motorcycle as she attempted to evade detection at the checkpoint in Talisay, Batangas, according to a report from the Provincial Police Regional Office (PRO)-Region 4A public information office. The rationale offered by the authorities is that they detained Mago because he was donning a police suit.

According to the police report, they requested Mago’s identification (ID) card in order to verify that she is a PNP employee. She was arrested though because she was unable to produce any.

An arrest warrant for kidnapping, serious illegal detention, and violation of Presidential Decree 1829 (Obstruction of Justice) was discovered against Mago at the precinct. The case is being handled by Regional Trial Court Branch 63 in Calabanga, Camarines Sur. Mago is being held in custody at the Talisay Municipal Police Station until he is sent to Camarines Sur to answer to the charges against him.
