MANILA, Philippines —  The Land Transportation Office National Capital Region-West (LTO-NCR-West) on Tuesday told the public to expect heavy traffic in Metro Manila due to an influx of motorists and commuters returning to the region following the end of Undas break.

“Inaasahan namin ang pagdagsa hindi lamang ng mga motorista pati na rin ng mas maraming bilang ng pasahero at kami naman ay nakahanda diyan,”  LTO-NCR-West Director Roque Verzosa III said this in a statement.

(We expect an influx of not only motorists but also more passengers, and we are ready for that.)

He added that the public should expect longer traffic queues and congestion on Tuesday late evening until Wednesday but gave assurance that LTO personnel  are on heightened alert status “to guarantee road safety for thousands of commuters and motorists traveling to and from provinces.”

“Hangad po namin ang kaligtasan ng lahat ng ating mga mananakay kaya as early last week nag-deploy po tayo ng mga traffic enforcers, pulis at mga force multipliers para suriin kung roadworthy ba ang pampublikong mga sasakyan at kung wasto ba ang kanilang mga prangkisa para masawata ang mga colorum na units,” Versoza said.

(We wish for the safety of all our passengers, so as early as last week, we deployed traffic enforcers, police, and force multipliers to check if the public vehicles are roadworthy and if their franchises are valid in order to be safe. the colorum units.)

He added that LTO has also suspended leave of absences among its personnels during “Undas” to maximize operations.
