CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela—Magat Dam in Ramon town in this province will discharge water on Saturday (Oct. 9) morning as heavy rains due to Tropical Storm “Paeng” (international name Nalgae) continued to raise its elevation, officials of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) said Friday.

In an advisory, the NIA-Magat said 200 cubic meters per second (cms) would be released at 8 a.m. through one of the spill gates, which will be opened at a meter-high.

The dam level was 186.70 meters above sea level (masl), which was nearing the 193-masl spilling mark as of 4 p.m. on Friday.

According to NIA-Magat, the water inflow was recorded at 99.99 cms and the outflow was 418.06 cms.

Dam division manager Carlo Ablan said they had cautioned villagers against crossing the Magat and Cagayan rivers due to the rising water level.
