Benguet Representative Eric Go Yap has warned the public against a scammer who is allegedly using his name to ask for money from victims.

Yap issued a public warning about a Pialago who was reportedly collecting money in his name. The alleged con artist is masquerading as being associated with the representation, claims the statement.

“It has come to our attention that a certain “Mr/Ms. Pialago” has been asking for money from different people and misrepresenting himself/herself as someone connected to this Representation,” said Yap in a statement issued by his office.

He made it clear that the aforementioned individual is unrelated to their office. As Yap does not have an associate, personnel, or employees by that name, Yap urged the public not to deal with this person.

“We would like to advise the public that this person is not connected in any way to our office and I do not have any associate, personnel, or staff that goes by that name,” added Yap.

Meanwhile, Yap has filed bills that aim to compel both the national government and LGUs to buy palay and other produce from local farmers. The goal of House Bill (HB) 3382, prepared by Davao Rep Paolo Duterte and Yap, is to ensure that the federal, state, and local governments purchase food from farmers in order to help raise their income for use in relief and school feeding programs.

HB 3383, a bill that Duterte and Yap also introduced and which seeks to designate funding for the building of contemporary rice drying facilities across the country that will be freely available to farmers, will “supplement” the aforementioned legislation.
