Miss Universe Organization Greets Pia Wurtzbach On Her Birthday

MISS UNIVERSE – The Miss Universe Organization released a throwback video of Pia Wurtzbach when she became the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe title in 2015.

Filipino-German beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach turned 33 on September 24. Three days before her actual birthday, the LoveYourself crew welcomed her with a feast at their new community hub in Pasay City.

The actress was given several birthday cakes which she shared with their volunteers and guests. On social media, Wurtzbach celebrated her birthday with a series of photo shoots as she channeled the famous fashion doll, Barbie.

Pia Wurtzbach uploaded a couple of IG reels that show behind-the-scenes of her birthday photoshoot. It came with a caption, “A very Happy Barbie Birthday to me.”

As a tribute to her 33rd birthday, the MOU released on Saturday (September 24) a throwback video of Wurtzbach when she became the first-ever Filipina to win the Miss Universe title in 1969.

“Happy Birthday Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach!” read the organization’s caption in a Facebook post.

The more than four-minute video showed a compilation of all of Pia Wurtzbach’s special moments in the Miss Universe pageant, such as her introduction as the Philippines’ bet and answers during the Q&A portion.

On December 20, the night of the 2015 MU pageant, host Steve Harvey mistakenly announced that Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez had won the title. He later apologized, stating that she was the first runner-up and that Pia Wurtzbach was the winner.

The American host called it an “honest mistake.”

Wurtzbach is the 3rd Filipina to win the MU title, following Gloria Diaz and Margie Moran, and was succeeded by Catriona Gray 3 years later.
