Jane de Leon Shares Struggles Before Becoming Darna

Jane de Leon talked about the time she was starting her acting career

Kapamilya actress Jane de Leon shared the struggles she went through before becoming the new Darna in a much-awaited series.

Jane’s career skyrocketed when she was chosen to play the iconic superheroine. Some doubted her ability to give justice to the role but she is determined to prove that she deserves this spot in showbiz. Following the first episode of the series, Jane has been receiving positive feedback.

In a recently released vlog of talent manager Ogie Diaz, he guested the new Darna. Jane shared that she went through a lot of difficulties when she was just starting out. At first, she did modeling stints and at that time, she has not manager yet. She was told before that her stints would just be “ex deal” or “for free” and for exposure only. However, she found out that she should be paid for those stints.

Later on, she was handled by her manager Tyronne Escalante. Jane shared that since her family was living in Laguna, there were times that they did not have money for transportation expenses and so they would borrow from Tyronne.

“Panahon na yun, pakapalan na lang po talaga ng mukha eh,” Jane shared. When she became a member of Girltrends, her talent fee was not that big. Even though it was just a small amount, she said that it helped them a lot.

In order to save for their transportation expenses, the actress revealed that she and her mother would sleep in the dressing room. There were times that they would sleep at the MRT station or just spend time in a convenience store.

“Talagang ginapang po talaga namin,” she said. Luckily, she was able to be part of the series Halik and through this, she was able to save money and rented an apartment. She also did provincial shows that helped her a lot.
