Bago City softbelles lose to Delmar in semis of Little League World Series

The dream title bid of Bago City ended in disappointment after absorbing an abbreviated 11-0 loss to Delmar, Maryland in the semis of the of the Little League Softball World Series Monday (Manila time) in Greenville, North Carolina.

Delmar hurler Macy Rickards once again terrorized the Negrenses with variety of pitches, yielding only one hit in the match that was stopped after four innings due to 10-run mercy rule in the event for 10 to 12 years old.

While Rickards was doing great job on the mound – she struck out seven Negrenses – her teammates were equally deadly offensively, scattering eight hits that resulted to three runs right in the first inning.

That was enough to disarm the Asian-Pacific representatives as Delmar scored four runs each in the next two frames that all but settled the outcome of the game.

The loss – their second to Delmar in two days – relegated the Negrenses to a battle for third against the representative of Southeast Region, while Delmar goes up against the representative of Southwest Region for the crown

Bago City, however, will go home with heads high after winning the Team Sportsmanship Award for “displaying sportsmanship both on and off the field throughout its time in Greenville.

Meantime, Bago City finished third in the Junior League held in Kirkland, Washington.
