Jerome Ponce trended on social media due to this

Actor Jerome Ponce, one of the cast members of the movie Katips, watched their rival movie Maid in Malacañang, director-writer Darryl Yap shared a post about this.

The movie of Jerome, directed by Vince Tanada, was originally made as a stage play, Katips: Mga Bagong Katipunero, in 2016. His character Greg is a medical student and the leader of the National Union of Students in the Philippines (NUSP).

The story revolved around what happened to activists during Martial Law. However, during a press conference for this movie, based on the article in PUSH, Direk Vince said that it does not necessarily mean that the film is an anti-BBM or an anti- Marcos movie.

Direk Vince also said that he really intended his movie to be released on the same day that the Maid in Malacanang will be released. Both movies hit the cinemas on August 3. The movie by Direk Darryl Yap intended to show the human emotions that the Marcoses had during their last 72 hours in Malacanang before they were forced to leave.

Direk Darryl stressed in interviews that there is no revisionism in the movie that he made unlike the accusation from the anti-Marcos camp. Amid the competition between the two movies, the controversial director shared a post from Facebook user Christine Laparan Policarpio.

The photo showed that Jerome Ponce and his girlfriend Sachzna Laparan, who is also one of the cast members of Katips, watched MiM. “Salamat sa panonood Sachzna Laparan at Jerome Ponce, parehas artista sa pelikulang katips,” the director wrote in the caption of his post.

Sachzna commented on this post that the controversial director shared. “Ganda ng movie! Congrats!” she wrote. This comment that the actress wrote now has over 4 thousand reactions.
