Alfred Vargas Reveals Friends ‘Betrayed’ Him During 2022 Elections

Actor-politician Alfred Vargas revealed that he experienced “betrayal” from some of his friends during the 2022 elections.

Alfred has a successful showbiz career. He has already done a lot of teleseyes and movies that really boosted his status in the entertainment industry. When he decided to be a public servant, he also did it with flying colors.

He served as the Quezon City fifth district representative for nine years. When his term was finished, he decided to run for councilor. In a recent interview, based on the article in PEP, Alfred said that with his new position, there is no big adjustment really.

“Actually, wala naman halos nagbago. I’m still a legislator, a policymaker,” the actor-politician said, adding the only thing that changed was the scope. However, he stressed the definite thing that he will do and it is to serve the people. “The people elected me for the fifth straight time. They deserve nothing less,” he said.

Talking about his political journey, especially this year, Alfred Vargas shared the obstacles he went through. He said that he lost some of his friends when he decided to run for a local position.

“Yes, may mga nabawas tayo na mga kaibigan. Some friends betrayed us during the last campaign. Some of them were unexpected at yun ang masakit. Pero mas nadagdagan tayo ng new friends,” the actor-politician revealed.

However, Alfred said that he and his brother PM Vargas, who ran for the position he previously occupied, still received support from their real friends. He said that what happened is like a blessing in disguise because they were able to know who their real friends were.

When asked about the lesson that he learned from the last election, he said that real public service still matters and that love for the country still counts. He added that during the elections, money is a great enemy but with the love coming from the people and the sincerity he showed to them, he was able to be triumphant.

Alfred Vargas also shared that he is more open now to accepting showbiz projects since his schedule is not that busy anymore.
