Akari taps Brazilian consultant of PH team as head coach

Akari has tapped the services of Brazilian coach Jorge Edson Souza de Brito heading to its first campaign in the Premier Volleyball League.

The Chargers announced the development Thursday, June 30 on social media.

Akari assured that its PVL debut in the Reinforced Conference will continue for the long haul by signing Souza de Brito as its head coach.

Souza de Brito is also a consultant for the Philippine women’s national volleyball team.

As a player, he was part of Brazil’s national team that won gold in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

The Porto Alegre native has coached Brazil, Turkey, Japan, and Korea since 2002.

Akari and Souza de Brito are reportedly holding tryouts on Friday, July 1 and Sunday, July 3 at the Pace Academy in Quezon City.
