MANILA, Philippines—San Sebastian pressed on from two sets down to frustrate Perpetual 24-26, 26-28, 25-20, 25-20, 17-15, on Sunday in the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball tournament at Paco Arena in Manila.

After dragging the match to a fifth set, the Lady Stags overturned two set points from the Lady Altas mainly from Kat Santos and Christina Marasigan to register their fourth win in five games, tying the idle Arellano Lady Chiefs in second place.

Reyann Cañete dished out a career-best performance of 25 points, while Santos added 18 markers for the Lady Stags who blew a 10-7 lead in the fifth en route to a nip-and-tuck endgame.

Perpetual, which relied on end-set rallies to steal the first two frames, suffered its second straight defeat for a 2-3 record.

Later, San Beda overcame a lethargic opening set to defeat Emilio Aguinaldo, 17-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-23, on Sunday and score its first win.

The Red Lionesses leaned on Trisha Paras to end the fourth frame and finally help the team enter the winning column after five tries.

Paras finished with team-high 15 points, while Maxinne Joyce Tayag added 14 for San Beda.

EAC’s  Catherine Almazan scored a career- and season-high 28 points while Krizzia Reyes had 21 but that didn’t help the Lady Generals from falling to their fifth defeat in as many games.
