MANILA, Philippines — A huge part of the country will experience warm and humid weather this weekend due to the easterlies, or warm winds coming from the Pacific Ocean, the state weather bureau said Friday.

Weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed that only thin clouds hover over the archipelago, indicating clear skies for most of the country.

But Pagasa also warned that isolated rains and thunderstorms may still occur due to these cloud bands.

“Maninipis na kaulapan lamang ang nararanasan sa buong bansa dahil nga yan sa patuloy na epekto ng easterlies dito sa silangang bahagi, na magdudulot ng pangkalahatang maaliwalas na panahon, maliban na lamang sa mga pulo-pulong pag-ulan o pag-kulog dito nga yan sa Metro Manila and the rest of the country,” weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

Pagasa also does not expect any tropical cyclone or low-pressure area to enter the country in the next three days although it reminded the public that isolated rains or thunderstorms in the afternoon might be prevalent, especially towards Tuesday next week.

Generally, warm weather is expected in Luzon for Saturday as Metro Manila, Laoag, Tuguegarao, and Legazpi would have temperatures between 24 and 33 degrees Celsius. The cities of Tagaytay and Baguio would have lower temperatures at 22 to 30 degrees Celsius and 16 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.

In Visayas and Mindanao, weather would also be fair as temperatures in Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro may play around 24 to 32 degrees Celsius; Cebu, 25 to 32 degrees Celsius; Iloilo, 24 to 33 degrees Celsius; Zamboanga, 24 to 34 degrees Celsius; and Davao, 25 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, Pagasa did not raise any gale warning as of its latest weather report. However, it noted that sea conditions over the waters west of the Ilocos Region, north and east of Luzon, and east of Eastern Visayas would be moderate.

It also said that the rest of the country would have slight to moderate sea conditions. – With reports from Nicole Faye Agcaoili, trainee
