Lolit Solis looks back on the film fest scam she orchestrated

Veteran showbiz writer-talent manager Lolit Solis recalled the 1994 Manila Film Fest scam that she planned that shocked the whole entertainment industry in the Philippines.

It has been almost three decades since that scam happened in which the famous “Take it! Take It” was born. To recall, Aiko Melendez and Edu Manzano were the real winners but Ruffa Gutierrez was announced as the Best Actress and initially, Gabby Concepcion was announced as the Best Actor.

Based on the article in PEP, in an interview that happened just recently, Lolit Solis was asked to react to the 28th anniversary of the scam on June 22. “Twenty-eight years na yun? Parang kelan lang. Sa isip ko, parang five years ago pa lang,” she said.

The writer-talent manager also shared that at that time, she really got angry with Gretchen Barretto. When Miss Mauritius 1994 Viveka Babajee who was being managed by Annabelle Rama back then, announced the name of Ruffa, Gretchen’s reaction was obvious because she knew what was really written on the envelope.

Viveka can be heard saying “Take it! Take it!” to Rocky Gutierrez, referring to the envelope. Gretchen was the star witness who exposed the scam. However, now, Lolit is very close to La Greta.

“Nung time na yun, galit ako kay Gretchen? Ano yun, e… Actually, alam mo si Gretchen, kikay lang pero pag aanuhin mo, soft-hearted,” Lolit said. The writer-talent manager also highlighted the love boxes that the former actress initiated during the pandemic.

Lolit Solis said.

The veteran talent manager also recalled that during the controversy, her talents Bong Revilla and Rudy Fernandez did not leave her.
