Mond Gutierrez was bullied for being a gay

TV host Mond Gutierrez recalled the time when he experienced bullying from GMA artists because of his gender preference.

It is known to many that Mond came from a prominent showbiz family and his twin brother Richard Gutierrez is one of the most sought-after leading men in the Philippine showbiz now.

In a recent podcast episode of famous YouTuber Wil Dasovich, Mond was asked about the reaction of his family when he officially came out as gay. He said that his family is very supportive and he felt the love and understanding from his loved ones.

However, this was not the same scenario that he experienced when he was hosting shows on the Kapuso network. At that time, Mond Gutierrez was just starting to establish his name in the industry.

He revealed that older artists in GMA would bully him. “I would walk down the hallway in GMA and it would be like ‘yan yang bakla, di ba?’” he shared. Mond said this happened a lot back then, and their bullies would know that he could hear the mean words they would say against him.

The TV host also admitted that there were times that he felt scared to enter the dressing room and to walk in hallways knowing that he will experience bullying. When Wil asked who those bullies of Mond were, the TV host answered that most of them were “older artistas”.

However, Mond Gutierrez said that he does not think that those older artistas would say those things to him now. “That was when I was new and I kinda prove myself in the industry and now we have mutual respect,” he shared.

In the same podcast, Wil Dasovich shared that when he was a newbie also he experienced the same from celebrities who came into the industry prior to him. Fortunately, Mond’s father veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez made Wil feel that he was welcomed.
