Office of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo Prepares to Help Victims of Bulusan Volcano

LENI ROBREDO – The Office of the Vice President confirmed preparing relief operations following the eruption of the Bulusan Volcano.

Recently, evacuations were held amid the rumbles of the Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon. Many residents most especially those who are living near the area were moved to a safer place due to the possible eruption that may result in ashfall.

Alert Level 1 was raised over Bulusan, a stratovolcano in Sorsogon. It means that it is showing abnormal conditions. The volcano erupted and the steam-driven eruption led to ashfall. The municipalities of Irosin, Barcelona, Bulusan, Juban, Gubat, and Casiguran which are home to more than 235,000 people are at risk over the incident.

The residents leaving in the six municipalities are urged to stay indoors, close all their doors and windows, and wear face masks and goggles for protection.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) which is operating with the help of donations from the private sector that trusts the OVP assured that preparations for the relief operations for victims of Bulusan volcano eruption are ongoing. Vice Pres. Leni Robredo assured that their team will be traveling to Sorsogon as soon as possible.

The Vice President also expressed that the immediate needs identified are face masks and bottled water. She also said that the confirmed affected areas include the municipalities of Juban and Irosin.

Amid its continuous efforts to help the public, the OVP also previously confirmed that it is preparing for a smooth transition as the term of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will end on June 30. She will be devoting her time to Angat Buhay Foundation.
