Sen. Kiko Pangilinan To Resign from Post as President of Liberal Party

KIKO PANGILINAN – Senator Francis Pangilinan will step down as the president of the Liberal Party on June 30, 2022.

One of the vice-presidential candidates in the Elections 2022 was Sen. Kiko Pangilinan who took the race for the second-highest position in the government bearing the Liberal Party. He was the running-mate of Vice President Leni Robredo.

The Vice President ran as an independent candidate and tapped the Senator to be her running-mate. It is no secret to the public that he is her personal choice as a running-mate. The Leni-Kiko tandem elicited massive support from the “Kakampinks” as they pushed for an honest government that will uplift the lives of all Filipinos.

However, in the election results, both Vice Pres. Robredo and Sen. Pangilinan lagged behind the frontrunners of the presidential and vice-presidential elections. Meanwhile, the grief of the members of the pink movement due to the results were instantly exchanged with profound hope when the Vice President announced the launching of the Angat Buhay Foundation as a non-government organization in July.

Vice Pres. Robredo flew to New York for the graduation of her youngest daughter, Jillian, after the election. She was abroad for almost two (2) weeks as she promised to dedicate such time to her three (3) daughters.

As soon as the Vice President and her daughters were back in the Philippines, Sen. Pangilinan gave an update regarding the Angat Buhay Foundation saying that he is set to meet with the Vice President about it.

Sen. Kiko Pangilinan wants to talk with Vice Pres. Leni Robredo regarding his role in the Angat Buhay Foundation as he stressed that they have only around a month to prepare for its launching. Based on a report on Inquirer, on June 30, he will step down as the president of the Liberal Party.

Vice Pres. Robredo will also no longer be the Liberal Party’s chairperson by June 30. Her camp stressed that she will focus on the Angat Buhay Foundation which can be a bigger movement.
