Kris Aquino Has Life-Threatening Disease, Bids Goodbye To Her Followers

In the latest post, Kris Aquino bid goodbye to her followers for now and revealed her latest diagnosis.

KRIS AQUINO – Queen of All Media Kris Aquino was diagnosed with Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis or EGPA.

Television personality Kris Aquino was diagnosed with rare autoimmune disease. And in a new post, the attending physician of the former host shared that she has Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), an extremely rare form of vasculitis.

She is currently in the United States for long-term treatment. Dr. Niño Gavino, a Filipino-American doctor based in Houston, detailed her extremely rare disease. A part of Dr. Gavino’s statement with regards to the treatment stated:

“The subsequent 9-12 months will be crucial for us to see if she (Aquino) can achieve remission and continue the regimen further because to survive, Ms. Aquino will have to make whichever combination works, her lifetime maintenance medicine.”

He also added further explaining how rare is her disease. Accordingly, the life expectancy of people with this condition is about 25%, a 5-year survival rate is 62% if given proper treatment, and there’s one case in every one million people.

In light of the extensive treatment plan, which will specifically take nine months, Kris bid farewell to her social media followers and friends with a line that says, “Time is now my enemy.”

She added, “For now and the next few years — sadly, it’s goodbye. Praying na kayanin ng katawan ko itong matinding pagsubok.”

To recall, Kris first revealed her battle with autoimmune conditions in 2018.

Based on the Cleveland Clinic article, EGPA is a rare disease characterized by the swelling of certain types of cells in your blood or tissues. This inflammation may affect many organs like your heart and kidneys and rarely, the brain. EGPA is formerly known as Churg-Strauss Syndrome
