Sara Duterte and her UniTeam running mate Bongbong Marcos became triumphant in the political arena this year. On May 25, their proclamation happened. The family of Marcos, Jr. were president, including his mother former First Lady Imelda Marcos who is now 92 years old.

Based on the article in Inquirer, it was been a tradition during the proclamation that the family members of the newly elected president and vice president accompany them when they go up to the rostrum at the Batasang Pambansa Complex.

However, when it was the turn of the VP-elect, she went up alone. She received the certificate of canvass and was proclaimed as the electoral victor by the Senate President and Speaker of the House without her family members behind her.

The outgoing Davao City Mayor shared to the members of the media her victory message after the proclamation. VP Sara said that she is dedicating her triumph to the fallen victims of terrorism, abuse, bullying, and criminality.

When asked why no one from her family came to join her, such as her husband Mans Carpio, father President Rodrigo Duterte, brothers Davao City Rep. Paolo and Davao City Mayor-elect Sebastian, mother Elizabeth Zimmerman, and her children, the Vice President-elect remained silent. VP Sara Duterte just said, “Thank you,” and then she walked away from the members of the media.
