LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—At least 19 new cases were added to the COVID-19 tally in the Ilocos region from May 15 to May 21, the regional Department of Health (DOH) said.

In its latest case bulletin released on Monday (May 23), the DOH said the daily average case stood at three during the same period.

It was the same number of daily average cases logged from May 8 to 14.

None of the 19 new COVID-19 cases have been tagged as severe or critical, the DOH added.

The health agency also verified at least 116 deaths in the region due to the virus.

As of May 21, at least 21 percent, or 51 out of the 240 ICU (intensive care unit) beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients, were occupied.

Non-ICU beds in use were at nine percent, or 141 out of the total 1,567 for COVID-19 patients including suspect, probable, and confirmed patients.

At least two patients, who were classified as severe and critical cases, were admitted to health facilities in the region. This comprised only one percent of total COVID-19 admissions in the entire Ilocos, according to DOH.

Just like last week, at least 84 percent of the total target population of at least 4.3 million individuals in the region were already fully vaccinated. Of which, some 778,149 individuals had received their booster shots.
