HIDILYN DIAZ – Filipina weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz dominated the 55kg competition of the 2022 SEA Games for her second straight gold.
Hidilyn Diaz is the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist. She is now engaged to her longtime boyfriend and coach Julius Naranjo.
The weightlifter received a brand-new house in Tagaytay. In a previous article, she gave a glimpse into the interior of her two-story house. She also received P50 million and other items.
In her previous IG post, Hidilyn Diaz confirmed that she will compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, her 5th career Olympic campaign. She also commits to compete in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in May and the 19th Asian Games in September.

On Friday, May 20, Hidilyn Diaz clinched her second straight Southeast Asian Games gold after winning the women’s 55kg with a total of 206kg at the Hanoi Sports Training and Competition Center in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The 31-year-old Olympic champ finished second after the snatch with 92kg, just one kilogram short of Thailand’s Sanikun Tanasan’s 93.
Sanikun bagged the silver while Indonesia’s Natasya Beteyob got the bronze. The Pinay weightlifter claimed her first SEA Games gold in 2019.

In a previous report, Hidilyn Diaz reacted after learning that the Department of Education (DepEd) has heard the calls for the inclusion of weightlifting in Palarong Pambansa. She was thrilled about the news and said they need to set up a long-term program that will ensure the continued development of her beloved sport in the country.
“We have to think long-term. Paano natin ipo-program ito? Kasi syempre hindi lang pwede na ipapasok pero walang programa… we have to think long-term, 5 years, 10 years, na sana ma-sustain ito… maipasok talaga ang weightlifting sa Palarong Pambansa,” she added. “Kasi kung walang programa, magko-collapse.”
“So kailangan, may programa para continuous ang program for weightlifting sa Palarong Pambansa,” she added.
