What was the reason why Michelle Aldana decided not to join Binibining Pilipinas in 1993?

Mutya ng Pilipinas 1993 Michelle Aldana has finally broken her silence on pageant rumor about Binibining Pilipinas World 1993 Ruffa Gutierrez.

Ruffa was already famous in the entertainment industry when she decided to join the national beauty pageant almost three decades ago. At that time, Michelle attended the Binibining Pilipinas screening also but this did not push through.

Based on the article in PEP, rumors surfaced that some of the applicants backed out when they saw that Ruffa Gutierrez was also an applicant. Allegedly, Michelle Aldana was one of those who backed out.

In a recent social media post of a pageant fan page, the caption claimed, “Ruffa’s filing of application to Binibini was a last minute surprise. It was said that when the other girls saw Ruffa at the venue, some of them backed out. It was also said that Michelle Aldana was supposed to join Binibini that year but did not push through with it. It has always been Dindi and Ruffa from the get go.”

The netizen was talking about Dindi Gallardo who won Binibining Pilipinas-Universe at that time while Gutierrez represented the Philippines in Miss World and she became the Second Princess in 1993.

In the comment section, Michelle clarified this issue. She admitted that she was present during the screening but she had to leave and it is not because of Ruffa.

“I didn’t leave the screening because of @iloveruffag. I got a call back from the EyeMo tv commercial that day. We tried waiting sa screening but it took awhile. I had to run back to EyeMo and missed my chance to join Binibini,” Michelle Aldana said.

It was a blessing in disguise for Michelle when she was not able to join Binibining Pilipinas and because of that, she was crowned Mutya ng Pilipinas and won Miss Asia Pacific 1993.
