INFORMATIVE SPEECH – This is the definition of informative speech and its various types that you probably don’t know yet.

An informative speech is a way in which a speaker provides details and information about a specific topic to an audience. The primary target of this type of speech is helping the people who are listening to you understand and remember the details you are talking about.

One can select a specific topic and can gather data about it from various sources such as books, encyclopedias, database articles, or use the Internet just as long as the site is a legit and valid source. Simply, the purpose of this is to make your audience informed.

There are also careers and professions that involve informative speaking. These careers and professions include teachers, professors, elected officials, scientific researchers, marketing experts, CEO and other executives, and many more.

Here are the types of informative speech:

• Descriptive Speeches (use to describe an object or a person to give the audience a visual image of it for deeper understanding)
• Demonstrative Speeches (informing the people about the steps and processes in completing something like instructional courses and training programs)
• Explanatory Speeches (as the name tells, this explains something)
• Definitive Speeches (this is when the speaker defines concepts, theories, and others to make the audience understand the idea)
• About Objects
• About People
• About Processes
• About Events
• About ideas

In giving this type of speech, make sure that you present it in a simple way but with accuracy. Practice it and only explain and tell what you know. Make sure you have supporting pieces of evidence like data points or study results.
