Kylie Padilla and Ruru Madrid recalled their reaction to receiving negative comments for their ‘Encantadia’ roles

Kapuso stars Kylie Padilla and Ruru Madrid received comments that they did not deserve their roles in the remake of the Kapuso fantasy series Encantadia.

Kylie played the character of Amihan, one of the Sang’gres that was played by multi-awarded actress Iza Calzado in the original series. Ruru portrayed Ybarro, the character that was previously played by Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes.

Based on the article in GMA Entertainment, Kylie and Ruru, who are working together in Regal Studios Presents: My Fairytale Hero, talked about their roles in Encantadia that brought out a lot of bashings.

“Sinabi [nila], ‘Hindi, Ru, hindi mo deserve ‘yan kasi Dingdong Dantes ‘yan. Ikaw, wala ka pang napatutunayan.’ Marami rin silang gustong ibang artista para sa role,” Ruru Madrid shared. He added that he stayed in his room for three days because of the mean words being thrown at him back then.

However, the actor realized that he should get affected by the bashing and so instead of feeling bad for himself, he turned the negative comments into motivation to push himself to be better. The Kapuso actor also shared that he felt fulfilled when he won Best Drama Actor at the 31st PMPC Star Awards for Television together with Dingdong.

Kylie Padilla also received comments from people saying that she did not deserve to be Amihan. “Sinasabi nila [na] hindi raw ako deserving. Pangit daw ako umarte tapos nag-poll pa sila [kung] sino favorite sang’gre nila [at pinakamababang votes] si Amihan,” she shared adding that she was really hurt by the bashings.

“Alam mo, dumating sa time na ayoko na magtrabaho. Nawalan na ako ng ganang pumasok,” the actress revealed. Fortunately, Kylie was able to overcome the negative comments when she worked with Director Mark Reyes for the conceptualization of her character.
